New Year’s Resolution

I have never really been the type of guy who read. I always found watching paint dry, or stabbing my eyeballs with serrated needles, much much more enjoyable and stimulating. I suppose I just felt as though that reading was a tad mundane for an intellectual like myself. But alas, like most abused children, Father Time has gotten the best of me and I have started to become much more engaged in the literary world. For my two-thousand-six New Year’s resolution, I have resolved to read at least 40 books by the end of the year. It sounds a bit far-fetched, but I’m shooting for the moon.

And so, without further adieu, here is my current list:

  1. Freakonomics by Steven Levitt & Stephen Dubner
  2. 2001: A Space Oddyssey by Arthur Clarke (Recommender: Britni Falter)
  3. The World Is Flat by Thomas L. Friedman (Recommender: Kalyan Chandra)
  4. The Long Walk by Stephen King (Recommender: Britni Falter)
  5. Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King (Recommender: Britni Falter)
  6. Hearts In Atlantis by Stephen King (Recommender: Britni Falter)
  7. Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain (Recommender: Britni Falter)
  8. Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk (Recommender: Britni Falter)
  9. Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer (Recommender: Britni Falter)
  10. Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder (Recommender: Lana Meade)
  11. Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card (Recommender: Ksatria Williams )
  12. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (Recommender: Brian Imbach)

Recommendations are very welcome. Otherwise, I have to start picking off Amazon’s top rated.

Yours,
Navid the Intellectual.
