It’s always greener where I live.
Today marks the 365th day I have been living in the evergreen state of Washington. The northwest has been good to me. I’ve enjoyed it’s beautiful backdrops, postcard scenery, and cultured people. I’ve enjoyed both the beautiful and gloomy days. It’s interesting how easily you grow accustomed to your surroundings. Even the simple things like how people drive on the highways, or how they give you directions is always different everywhere you go. Other things, however, are always constant: the sound of cement soaking in the rain, the way people can’t parallel park or the way you feel each time someone asks you where you’re from.
I’ve lived in many different places throughout the past twenty-two years of my life. I can’t say for sure which is my favorite, or which was the most influential but I do believe we’re all an ordered summation of our past. And I also truly believe I could be an entirely different person had you removed any one of my previous residence. Maybe even if you just changed the order. You know, similar to that entire sum of its parts is greater than the whole bit.
Although I hope the next twenty-two years of my life bring me much travel, I hope that I can (finally) settle down and call someplace home.
Adieu. Navid.
