King Kong (2005)
I saw King Kong this morning as part of a work shindig and I must confess that although I am not usually a big fan of Hollywood blockbusters; I walked away pretty pleased about this one. It was true to the original with the perfect ensemble of modernity. It was a bit on the long side but I think it was well worth it in this case.
I think Peter Jackson definitely hit that ever so elusive balance. The movie was able to take the audience was happy to sad, to laughter, to sheer terror and all the way back to “Holy shit, no way! Did you just see him kick that dinosaur’s ass?!” Good stuff. Oh, and before I forget … I thought it was remarkable how much dialogue the Ape conveys throughout the movie without ever uttering a single comprehensible word.
Adieu. Navid.
