And we have lift off.
Although I haven’t got any complaints yet, I’m just going to start this entry with a little precursor. It’s not meant to scare anyone, but I know everyone has their limits and unless I’m Strong Bad, no one likes to hear about some Linux.
Warning: The post below may contain some very geeky things, if you are turned off or offended by geeky things please stop reading this entry now and visit something less mentally obstrusive, say myspace.com?
I got Ubuntu Linux up and running on my Dell 700m laptop through LiveCD. And I will be the first to admit, that even though I have run Knoppix and Red Hat in the past, this is really amazing. I concurrently was setting up Ubuntu in Virtual PC 2004 (SP1) on my desktop machine at home (Windows 2003 Server) and while that obviously took a little more effort than a LiveCD implemenation, I am really considering taking the time to well-verse myself into Linux. I am definitely seeing a lot of potential here and therefore may switch to a dual-boot system on my laptop. However, we’ll see how things go, since there are still a lot of kinks and habitual learning to work out.
In short: Ubuntu Linux 4.10 is a lift off.
Adieu. Navid.
