Bush Country

Since my dissapointing finish for #26, this weekend gave me the opportunity to cross off #4 from my 50 Things I Would Like To Accomplish Before I Die List. I’m back from Houston, Texas where my older cousin, Yasi (aka Jasmine), got married this weekend in a relatively large (250+ person) wedding. It was for the most part comprised of family (yes, large family) and of course the usual friends and associates. I got see all my cousins and actually meet one of my other cousins which I had never really met. He’s 24. I’m 20. He lives in Philly and we simply bonded over basketball. I also got to spend a lot of time with my oldest female cousin Golyar. She’s really sweet and cool. She’s finishing up her like 14th docorate or something. She’s in Endocrinology which is a really cool field especially since a lot of our family members have thyroid-related problems. I came to the conclusion that all in all my family was pretty cool. And rich. The wedding was held at the groom’s mother’s house which was a 3.5 acre, 2.5 million dollar ‘mansion’. Although the prices are low due to Texas property value, the house itself was relatively small (for what you may think it is) but beautifully decorated. However, the exceptional landscaping and garden made up for the home. The house is gated by a large black gate, which, upon entering, must travel a thin long driveway all the way upto the house, where you are greeted by a small spanish villa-like front porch, which includes the ever so famous circle + water fountain. Valet parkers were standing by to park the cars down the hill. The wedding was great, the dinner was perfect and well, I haven’t seen my cousin Yasi this happy since she got accepted to Yale. I’m really happy for her and her groom, Paul, seems like such a great guy. He gave me a sneak peek of the second floor and just seemed like an overall nice guy. He’s a dentist who has a degree in architecture. He does dentisty but also helps design dental offices (talk about merging his two passions!). Yasi, well, she’s got a Masters in Genetics but I’m unsure of her career path. You really can’t chit chat with the bride on her wedding day, you know? All in all, I had a fabolous time and I really missed Britni when Sir Mix A Lot’s I Like Big Butts came on.

We had a connection flight to Denver, Colorodo which I thought was pretty neat. I’d never been to Denver before and to see these enthusiasts already covered and glistened up in their “Go Bronco’s” uniforms reminded me of why I love dissassociated and apathetic Orange County. We’re just too superficial to actually care about sports. I also was thrilled to know that “The OC” was cool and happening on the east coast. I’ve slept pretty much the past two days in complete comatose due to the fact that all my flights have been red-eye (2am and after). I’m still kind of out of it but I’ll be sure to discuss more when I get all the pictures up. I think there are something like 200 pictures. Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Adieu. Navid.
